Mar. 3rd, 2018 02:58 pmI had do go to the free clinic yesterday, my blood pressure since losing about 20 pounds kind of fast has just been awful. I found out taking magnesium, more than the RDA, helps a lot. On Thurs. & part of Wed. I think, my heart was just pounding. It is really scary.
The weather is very nice today, cold but sunny for a change, it's been flood weather for a week or so, the river level in Cincy went way up. I just looked, a trifle under 50 degrees.
I am having trouble keeping occupied, just yard work won't do, because of the boredom factor. I'd love to have an mp3 player, I'm thinking. That might help.
I am having trouble finding books I like, which is odd. I went through a long stage of disliking fiction in favor of biographies. I found that after high school, fiction tended to trigger some odd reactions in me. I did read The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit repeatedly, it was a lovely book to live in. And some others, and I liked Harry Potter a great deal. But while I was reading it, I had a very unpleasant experience, and feel now that it had something to do with reading Potter--or not reading also even more inspiring books, maybe nonfiction.

Sep. 18th, 2017 05:45 pmJust sayin'.
Also, I saw some pennyroyal on the way here, with bees & 2 kinds of butterflies/moths, small ones, yellow and black, so lovely. You almost never see bees around here anymore, or butterflies. There is just so much more building in suburbs and cutting trees down, people moving from the city to what's left of the country. And lots of empty houses closer to town.
But it doesn't matter because this is not my permanent home.
jj prasch The Jezebel Spirit
Aug. 24th, 2017 07:06 pmVery interesting and sounds helpful so far.
Insubmission to the Word of God first, then teaches and leads My bondservants away. It is a greedy spirit. "I gave her time to repent but she didn't want to repent". She thinks she hears from God. Jezebel exhibited hostility, scorn toward those who oppose her. After refusing to repent, she goes crazy. A woman with the Jezebel spirit will control the man, she is not usually the pastor of a church. It ends up with the puddle of blood being licked up, and a new Jezebel rises up to replace. There will be wrongful doctrine, there will be greed, she wants someone else's vineyard, etc.
He knocks the Crouches (& Tammy Faye Bakker) and Joyce Meyer here, no complaints from me on that.
He absolutely underlines the importance of the role of the husband in supporting and loving the wife Biblically. The blame is on the men!
If you have a problem with male authority, (due to abuse usually), you need Jesus to help you.

Aug. 17th, 2017 04:10 pmI used to have the same problem, the Bible is just full of scary stuff and coming from a falsely religious background, I would get sort of anxiety attacks when reading unpleasant passages and it made me think that God was accusing me. But He has not given us a spirit of fear. And

On my way to the store, my friend Nita was on the corner waiting to cross last week (or 2 weeks ago!) right when I was crossing the street, so we stopped and talked. She had been wanting to talk to me. She had a little coin purse with some change in it, said she had found some dimes, spent them and...they were still in the coin purse.
I had my own story about dimes and it has to do with this account,
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
But I'd made this one too, and came here to find out if anyone knew about the LJ ToS change. They did and I realized DW had image hosting, one of the things that made me hang on to LJ longer. Free, of course. And they have more freedom of speech, are MUCH friendlier to English speaking users--the politeness factor toward anyone English speaking at LJ had just plummeted and frozen.
THE DIME FACTOR: I was feeling the change was right, but wondering whether the change to DW was in the right. I felt like it was, started posting here, made a fox news account with RSS feed, brought one of my minor journals from LJ over through the Import Content function, completely reproducing it but for the layout. Okay, feeling really good about it.
Then, I left. I went back to the parking lot & playground/tennis court area by the library, which is where I have to use the computer, not being too moneyed. I did something I had not done for years: I prayed to find money. I walked back a bit, several parking spaces to the back of the lot and ...ELEVEN DIMES, nice shiny ones, all within 2 or 3 feet of each other.
I had found one penny on the way to the library that afternoon, and so that made ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN CENTS, or ELEVENTYONE CENTS, for the day. I prayed for more, thought it was a lucky streak, had forgotten the penny I had already found, and had not yet counted the dimes, just thought enough to search the area pretty thoroughly for more after I found them. I did not find any more, and prayed for more money, but got none. one my way back I passed the spot where I'd found the penny & remembered it, counted the dimes and as I said at the beginning of the paragraph, ELEVEN DIMES AND ONE PENNY or ELEVENTYONE CENTS.
Pretty amazing. She said she had looked around on the internet to see if finding dimes meant something and found it might mean that a recently passed loved one was trying to let you know they were looking after you. There was another meaning that could be, but I can't remember what she said.
I had not had anyone pass on around that time but my mom died at the beginning of June, unexpectedly. Peacefully, but she wasn't sick. We just knew she was frail and that the doctor had said she when she goes it will be quickly. So no recent death in the family (though come to think of it, this was around when my Grandpa died in 1976, kind of young.
I recently was in a discussion where we said emotions are important but they are not everything. Sometimes they can be downright deceptive. And coincidences, maybe we find what we want.
But just now after writing that last paragraph I went another window to think for a moment, maybe close the windows if they weren't necessary and think and pray about this. The first window I went to happened to be of a long prayer with lots of subjects in it, a long narrow entry I'd run through and stopped at a random spot. I was going to close it but the first sentence of it was this:
"YOU ARE LORD OVER NITA'S HEART AND NITA'S FAMILY, YOU ARE LORD OF REMOVING GUILT AND FORGIVING SIN AND TAKING OUT THE HOOKS FOR US, THE HOOKS OF THE ENEMY, YOU ARE LORD OF HEALING OUR HEARTS AND TAKING OUR SIN AS FAR AS THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST FROM US."
Nita had been having problems with the family and others, the kind we all have sooner or later, if not all the time!!! So I'd been praying for her and myself and a bunch of people in this big long private post.
Nita had been saying lately that she knew God was helping her because her extremely bothersome neighbors, who she'd been praying for, continued to bother her, were getting prosecuted for various things like having mold and lead in the apartment, or something like that. they had been using up water by doing all kinds of other people's laundry in the apartment's machines, and then the landlady tried to charge Nita for the extra. Landlady is not from this country, was afraid to go against the bothersome neighbors, so just tried to make Nita pay the extra utilities instead of bothering with eviction processes. The other thing the neighbors did was have a bunch of people living there who were not listed in the lease, which is an not good, and they were NOISY. So she was saying the fact they were suddenly having these troubles was because God was taking her side and answering her prayer. Which is just what I was thinking and had read that in the last couple weeks in the Psalms.
PS 41: 11I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
That is what I had just read in the last week. I was thinking, is it really that simple, it's almost childish or selfish to think that. But God listens to prayer and sees when we are trying our best to let Him run our lives, instead of trying to do it all ourselves.
I think this is not the first time God has defended Nita.
Anyway, I said I'd write the story, then got distracted, I have so much STUFF going on in my head. So there it is the DIME story. I don't know which one is more impressive, finding exactly 111¢, or spending money then finding it still in your wallet. Both very unlikely. I think the replication of money would have to be it, as it is impossible, the 111¢ is very unlikely but still physically possible, even at that extremely unlikely day.
NOTE: there was one person online who said he/she had a continuing amazing dime-finding experience, and said they now considered dimes to be a hug from God. Works for me.

I was so depressed--angry on the way to the library, till I started watching the clouds, they are magnificent today. There was a tornado warning yesterday, we had decent sized limb get knocked out of our sycamore tree, plus a lot of previously dead wood. The dead wood going is nice. The live limb was maybe 8 feet long, had lots of leaves on it.
I think the clouds are so nice because of the bad weather. They are usually stranger than they are now, just all kinds, cirrus, cumulus and various other. Today they are just cumulous but... I can't describe them, wish I had a camera.
(before I left the house to come to the library) I accidentally knocked a little tray off my dresser with some things my sis gave me, some jewelry items. One broke. I can put it back together but it will never be the same. I am just glad she thought of me, it was a little blue dog that had spots and stripes on it. She is allergic to dogs and we haven't had one in years, but that is the second one she gave me that had a dog in it. The other was a scrimshaw-style piece that has a dog staring at the moon. I don't wear jewelry often, which sort of irks me, but I was really ticked off at that, and wonder why it had to happen.

May. 3rd, 2017 01:47 pmIt sounds so far like there is proof that it happened the way the Bible says. I am fairly confident that Levitt probably thought the same way I did. B But it didn't help that this woman was not so great an archaeologist.
I also remember Tom Bombadil at The One Boards saying you couldn't prove that the slaughter of the innocents happened. I said, why would there be proof of this type of thing, Herod would have wanted to keep it quiet. But I have been reading The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop, and he says that one...Pilot or one of the Roman officials of the time...Caesar? I'm not sure, Hislop says the comment from this well known person was that that he would "rather be Herod's pig than Herod's child". Because look what Herod did to children.
Here is a site that says Herod was very paranoid and slaughtered a lot of people who got in his way. ++> http://www.biblearchaeology.org/post/2009/12/08/The-Slaughter-of-the-Innocents-Historical-Fact-or-Legendary-Fiction.aspx
I do have to go home and look at The Two Babylons again, but am sure of the quote, that it was from a historically well known Roman source. That quote was evidence that Herod was murderous enough to have committed the murders the Gospel of Matthew accused him of.

Calvinism and that faith is NOT a work as J Calvin would say:
Faith is not a work, it's a choice to trust, not something externally put in by God. If that is predestined, then so are your works. What is the point of evangelisation, we would be robots, accepting Jesus is what we already have. We wouldn't have to accept Jesus, because we're born saved.
Jews almost always want to talk about RIghteousness. Abraham was Righteous before circumcision. (when witnessed to).

Is The Church Built on “Petros” or “Petra”?
The churches of Christ Greet You (Romans 16:16)
The Roman Catholic Church claims that Peter was the first pope, the successor of Christ. They say he is therefore Christ's vicar and the visible and infallible head of the church, having power and authority over all the other apostles and the entire church. Catholic leaders also claim that Christ built His church upon Peter and gave him the keys to unlock and close the kingdom of heaven and hell to anyone as he chose. They assert that the popes in past history up to the present are Peter's successors, and have the same power of the keys.
These far‑reaching claims are based on the verses found in Matthew 16:18-19. Let us make a careful and critical examination of these verses and see what Jesus said and what He actually meant. Here is the text: "Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The New Testament was originally written in the Greek, from which the Latin, English, and other versions were translated. If you study the Greek text you will find that the word Peter and the word Rock on which Christ was to build His church are two separate and distinct words, each having a different meaning. The word Peter in Greek is petros, which means "a piece of rock; a stone; a single stone; movable, insecure, shifting, or rolling." The word rock is petra, which means "a rock; a cliff; a projecting rock; mother rock; huge mass; solid formation; fixed; immovable; enduring."
The word petros for Peter in the Greek is in the masculine gender and the word petra for the rock is in the feminine gender. Petros and petra are two distinct words in the Greek. Petros is a shifting, rolling, or insecure stone, while petra is a solid, immovable rock. In the English language the gender is not specified by the article. We say the fork, the spoon, and the knife. The three words have the same article. In the Greek, as in many of the modern languages, each noun and corresponding article is in the masculine, feminine, or neuter gender. In many cases it is an arbitrary arrangement, regardless of sex.
The article in Greek is important. If one noun is in the masculine it must have a masculine article, and if it is in the feminine it must have a feminine article. The text under consideration in the Greek shows that petros is in the masculine, and petra in the feminine, proving that they are two distinct words; and each one has a different meaning. Now the question is, on which of the two, petros or petra, did Christ establish His church? Was it on petros, a movable stone, or petra, an immovable rock?
Let us quote the text again: "I say also unto thee [to Peter], That thou art Peter [petros, masculine gender], and upon this Rock [petra, feminine gender] I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). The text indicates clearly that the church of Christ is built on petra and not on Petros.
Now, who is this petra or rock on which Christ built His true church? Let the Holy Bible again give the answer. If the Bible gives the answer, we make no mistake in accepting it because the definition is authentic. "They drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock [petra, in the Greek] was Christ" (1 Corinthians 10:4). Here we have evidence that petra refers to Christ, and not to Peter, petros. Again we quote: "Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone" (Ephesians 2:20) "He is the Rock, His work is perfect" (Deuteronomy 32:4; 2 Samuel 22:2-3) (Douay, 2 Kings 22:2-3).
If Peter is the rock on which Christ was to build His church, Peter could not be overcome and the gates of hell could not prevail against him. But the fact is that he was overcome, and the gates of hell did prevail against him. Didn't he deny his Lord? This was after Christ told him that the Rock was not to be overcome. Jesus told Peter on one occasion: "Get thee behind Me, Satan: thou art an offense unto Me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men" (Matthew 16:23). Peter himself gives the answer as to who the Rock is. He says Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:16). Again, speaking of Christ, he says: "This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders" (Acts 4:10-11); so Christ, the Son of God, must be the rock on which God built His church.
If Jesus would have built His church on Peter, petros, He would have said: "Thou art Petros, and upon this Petros [or upon it] I will build My church," but such is not the case. He plainly says: "Thou art Petros, and upon this petra I will build My church.” Paul tells us that the petra is Christ. He also says, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11). Peter is never designated by petra. Thus, Peter and Paul agree that Christ is the Rock; but the pope claims the title for himself. Which testimony should we accept? "Let God be true, but every man a liar" (Romans 3:4).
Long before Jesus was born He was considered the Rock. Isaiah declares: "Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation" (Isaiah 28:16). Peter applies this prophecy to Christ. He wrote: "Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief Cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded" (1 Peter 2:6). David said: "Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I" (Psalm 61:2) (Douay, Psalm 60:3).
If the church was built on Peter then Peter would be the head of the church. However, Peter was not the head of the church in his day. Instead of having the disciples, apostles, and other believers call Peter pope, or Father Peter, or Holy Father Peter, Jesus said: "Be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.... But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant" (Matthew 23:8‑11). "Call no man your father," could not refer to an earthly parent, but to the spiritual fathers. Jesus recommended our paying full respect to earthly parents when He quoted the commandment: "Honor thy father and thy mother" (Mark 7:10).
Sometimes 1 Corinthians 4:15 is used to prove that we may call spiritual leaders our fathers. Paul writes: "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel." They were begotten through the Gospel and not through Paul. Again Paul writes: "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth" (Romans 1:16). We repeat: it is through the Gospel that we are begotten, and not through Paul or some other person. It is the Gospel that is the power of God unto salvation, and not man.
If Jesus delegated Peter as the head of the church, why did the other disciples quarrel among themselves as to who would be the greatest (Luke 9:46)? If this decision had already been made by Christ, why should the others fret about it? The other disciples would have submitted to the wish of their Master. Thus it seems evident that no such appointment had been made by Jesus. Neither Peter nor any of his successors were heads of the true church. Paul explains this when he says: “The head of every man is Christ” (1 Cor. 11:3). God "gave Him to be the head over all things to the church" (Ephesians 1:22). This explains that Jesus is the head of every person and also of the church. We are responsible to the head, which is Christ, and not to men who try to circumvent the work of Christ and take His place. Christ is the head of every person, and we are responsible to Him as individuals.
There is not a trace of evidence in the Bible that Peter was a pope. What would you think of historians who would write accounts of Abraham Lincoln, yet in not a single instance mention his title as President of the United States of America? Could you imagine such an oversight? If Peter had borne some such title as "pope," don't you think that at least one inspired writer would have mentioned it? Peter wrote two epistles, but he does not use the title of pope in either. Can you imagine a pope today writing two letters to the church and forgetting his title? Peter could have mentioned it on the Day of Pentecost when he delivered that stirring sermon (Acts 2), but he did not do so. The church in the days of the apostles did not recognize Peter as pope or the head of the church. Neither does the true church today.

i am still not finding anything about the most recent change.
